    Differentiable Bayesian Structure Learning with Acyclicity Assurance

    Score-based approaches in the structure learning task are thriving because of their scalability. Continuous relaxation has been the key reason for this advancement. Despite achieving promising outcomes, most of these methods are still struggling to ensure that the graphs generated from the latent space are acyclic by minimizing a defined score. There has also been another trend of permutation-based approaches, which concern the search for the topological ordering of the variables in the directed acyclic graph in order to limit the search space of the graph. In this study, we propose an alternative approach for strictly constraining the acyclicty of the graphs with an integration of the knowledge from the topological orderings. Our approach can reduce inference complexity while ensuring the structures of the generated graphs to be acyclic.     A morphospace of functional configuration to assess configural breadth based on brain functional networks

    The best approach to quantify human brain functional reconfigurations in response to varying cognitive demands remains an unresolved topic in network neuroscience. We propose that such functional reconfigurations may be categorized into three different types: i) Network Configural Breadth, ii) Task-to-Task transitional reconfiguration, and iii) Within-Task reconfiguration. In order to quantify these reconfigurations, we propose a mesoscopic framework focused on functional networks (FNs) or communities. To do so, we introduce a 2D network morphospace that relies on two novel mesoscopic metrics, Trapping Efficiency (TE) and Exit Entropy (EE), which capture topology and integration of information within and between a reference set of FNs. In this study, we use this framework to quantify the Network Configural Breadth across different tasks. We show that the metrics defining this morphospace can differentiate FNs, cognitive tasks and subjects. We also show that network configural breadth significantly predicts behavioral measures, such as episodic memory, verbal episodic memory, fluid intelligence and general intelligence. In essence, we put forth a framework to explore the cognitive space in a comprehensive manner, for each individual separately, and at different levels of granularity.     Improving indigenous Vietnamese Black Rabbit frozen sperm quality: the role of glycine and sperm selection methods

    [EN] Rabbit sperm are known to undergo damage during both cryopreservation and thawing, leading to decreased viability, motility and membrane integrity. Glycine can protect sperm and reduce damage during freezing. Swim-up is a simple semen processing method for selecting good motile sperm. The study evaluated the effect of the swim-up method and glycine with different concentrations supplemented to the frozen medium. Three indigenous black rabbits were selected for semen collection by artificial vagina. Next, semen was selected by swim-up method and diluted with glycine-added frozen medium. The samples were then transferred to 0.5 mL straws, cooled to 15°C and 5°C, placed in liquid nitrogen vapour, and finally placed directly into liquid nitrogen (-196°C). The samples were thawed and evaluated for sperm quality. The results showed that the medium supplemented with 10mM glycine in combination with swim-up method for 30 min gave the best results and was significantly different from the remaining concentrations (P<0.01), with viability rate, overall mobility and membrane integrity of 68.0%, 58.7% and 49.7%, respectively. In conclusion, 10 mM glycine concentration combined with swim-up for 30 min is the optimal choice for freezing local black rabbit semen.     The acceptance of mobile applications for accommodation booking in Vietnam: Case of gen Z

    The development of technology and smart mobile devices such as phones and tablets has changed the behavior of tourists when booking tourism services. Based on the technology acceptance model, this study aims to explore the factors influencing the intention to use mobile applications for accommodation booking among GENZ in Vietnam. The analysis of 218 users revealed that four factors influence the behavior of using mobile applications for booking: performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and hedonic motivation. In addition to identifying the factors affecting usage intention, this study also proposes implications to assist developers and providers in improving their applications and developing suitable product strategies for the future

    The Effect of ENSO on Hydrological Structure and Environment in the South Central Coast – Vietnam

    ENSO (El Niño-Southern Oscillation) phenomena have impacted on the hydrodynamic regime and environmental factors of the tropical ocean in general. In case of Vietnamese South-Central Waters, impacts of ENSO only focused on issues of changing seasonal wind, seawater temperature anomalies, changing of water masses as the air-sea interaction. Based on several data sets collecting in the period of 2003-2017, new finding of seawater temperature, salinity and environmental factors was identified in the water masses of Vietnamese South-Central Waters. The highest salinity was 35.4 ‰. During the El Nino event, increasing water temperature and salinity caused to move the deeper water masses to be closer to the sea surface than that initial depth in the neutral period. During the La Nina event, the temperature of most water masses reduced by 0.1-3°C, and then these water masses could be affected to the deeper layer. During the phase from strong ENSO event towards the neutral time, nutrient salts of the 4 water masses were lower concentration in the neutral year, causing the lack of phosphorus in sea surface water masses

    Stress and sleep quality in medical students: a cross-sectional study from Vietnam

    BackgroundThe COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in significant global social and economic disruptions, as well as changes in personal attitude and behavior. The purpose of this research is to assess the sleep quality and stress levels of medical students.MethodData was collected from medical students over the course of a month in 2021. A total of 4,677 students at the University of Medicine Pham Ngoc Thach were invited to complete an anonymous web-based survey, which included the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Questionnaire Index (PSQI) for measuring sleep quality and the COVID-19 Student Stress Questionnaire (CSSQ) for evaluating stress.ResultsA total of 1,502 students participated in our survey. More than half of the participants exhibited poor quality of sleep as indicated by their PSQI score. Many students reported going to bed after midnight and spending time on their smartphones. Among the students surveyed, 21.84% experienced low levels of stress (CSSQ ≤6), 63.38% had mild stress (7 ≤ CSSQ score ≤ 14), 14.78% reported high levels of stress (CSSQ &gt;14).ConclusionThis study showed a high prevalence of poor sleep quality in the surveyed students, which could be attributed to changes in their behavior following the COVID-19 outbreak. Mild stress was also frequently observed, and it may be related to sleep disorders in this population. These important findings provide valuable insights for making recommendations, including lifestyle modifications to improve sleep quality

    Cloning and expression of pigC gene in Escherichia coli

    Prodigiosin (Pg), which is particularly of interest because of anticancer and antimicrobial activities, can be produced through the PigC-catalyzed condensation reaction of 4-methoxy-2, 2’-bipyrrole-5-carboxyaldehyde (MBC) and 2-methyl-3-amylpyrrole (MAP). Therefore, the PigC protein plays an important role in prodigiosin biosynthetic pathway. However, studies related to PigC protein have not been carried out in Vietnam yet. In this work, the pigC gene was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli DH10B and BL21 (DE3), respectively. Using PCR and universal primers, we amplified a fragment of 3 kb covering entire coding region of the pigC gene from Serratia sp. strain M5. The pigC gene was inserted into pJET1.2 vector, and then transformed into E. coli DH10B. The sequence of a recombinant vector pJET1.2/pigC was evaluated by using whole colony PCR amplification. Sequence alignment results revealed that the obtained pigC gene possesses 71.5% and 75.4% of nucleotide identity in comparison with two strains, Serratia 39006 and Serratia sp. AS9 published in GenBank with their respective accession numbers of AJ833001 and CP002773. The recombinant vector pJET1.2/pigC was used to reamplify pigC, and the acquired amplicon was inserted into pET22b vector at the site of HindIII and XhoI. The clone E. coli BL21 (DE3) containing recombinant vector pET22b/pigC was expressed in the auto-induced medium. The presence of PigC protein in the lysate was identified as a 100 kDa band through Western Blot analysis using anti his-tag antibody. Afterward, the PigC protein was purified by Ni-NTA column, and its expression level was quantified through SDS-PAGE analysis. The results of our study provide a potential material for producing prodigiosin from recombinant protein in Vietnam
